Since March 2017, cannabis products can be prescribed in Germany by health professionals regardless of their specialty, with the exception of dentists and veterinarians. At a press conference with Federal Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach on 26 October 2022, the federal government confirmed its plan to no longer classify cannabis as a narcotic in the future.
