Gorilla Glue: Why choose this strong hybrid variety?

Gorilla Glue

Gorilla Glue is a variety of Cannabis with a high THC content. Gorilla Glue is also sometimes referred to as 'GG', 'GG4' or 'Original Glue'. In this article, we will explain what the special characteristics of the Gorilla Glue strain are and what medicinal benefits it can meet in cannabis treatment.

Profile of Gorilla Glue effect

Gorilla Glue strain preparations have a very high THC content. It reaches 19 to 41 percent (depending on the product and the specific phenotype). The strain is therefore associated with an extremely strong effect profile. In contrast, the CBD content is below 1 per cent. (1) Below we list for you the typical effects of Gorilla Glue:

Euphoria and relaxation: Gorilla Glue is associated with a strong euphoric effect. Users report feelings of happiness and are both happier and more relaxed after taking the products.

The cerebral effect: Gorilla Glue can have a cerebral effect that is described as promoting creativity and increasing concentration. Some users describe that taking the products helps them to concentrate better on their tasks. (3)

Physical effects: Ingestion of Gorilla Glue can potentially have an analgesic effect.(4) It is therefore used, among other things, in the treatment of chronic pain. (5)

Sleep induction: Thanks to the soothing properties of Gorilla Glue, this strain can act as a sleep aid, preventing sleep interruption and generally improving sleep quality. (4)

Increase appetite: As is known with many cannabis strains, consuming Gorilla Glue can lead to an increase in appetite. For some patients, this effect can help overcome nausea and make it easier to eat despite illness or medication side effects. (6)

The use of Gorilla Glue in healthcare

In practice, Gorilla Glue can be used to treat a variety of conditions. The most important area of application is pain therapy, including multiple sclerosis, neuropathic pain (5) and migraine (7). The strong sedative effect of THC can also help treat sleep disorders (4). In addition, therapeutic use can alleviate anxiety associated with mental illness. (2) Due to the nausea-reducing effects of Gorilla Glue, this strain is suitable for supporting other forms of treatment by minimising negative side effects, for example in the context of chemotherapy. (6)

Gorilla Glue

Flavour Gorilla Glue

At vaporization or oral ingestion of Gorilla Glue products, this strain has a diverse flavour profile. The exact nuances depend on the method of cultivation and processing. In our experience, the following flavour characteristics can be described.

Earthy: Users report a rich, earthy taste that Gorilla Glue shares with many other cannabis strains.

Diesel: This is not atypical for some cannabis strains, some users associate the aroma of diesel or petrol with Gorilla Glue.

Pine: Gorilla Glue may have a pine wood aroma.

Sweetness: To balance the rather bitter flavour notes, Gorilla Glue can have slightly sweet nuances.

Acidity: Some users attribute a slightly sour or citrus flavor to Gorilla Glue. (8)

Variants of Gorilla Glue

Gorilla Glue is a cross between Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel. Based on this, they are divided into different phenotypes. Gorilla Glue variants are usually categorised using a numbering system attached to the name. Well-known variants include Gorilla Glue #4, Gorilla Glue #1, Gorilla Glue #5 and Gorilla Glue #12. It is logical that the performance profiles of these variants vary more or less depending on their chemical structure. However, reliable information is not yet available for a precise evaluation of the individual phenotypes.

How long does it take for Gorilla Glue to take effect?

The onset of action of medicinal cannabis preparations is mainly related to the method of consumption used. The THC content of the strain, individual metabolism and physical tolerance to the medicinal cannabis are also important. (9)

Gorilla Glue inhaled in a vaporizer develops its effect very quickly. Often it takes only a few minutes. The peak effect can be expected after 15 to 30 minutes. Taking cannabis in capsules usually takes 30 to 90 minutes to produce the desired effect (10).

In any case, the prescribed dosage and instructions for use from the attending physician should be followed. This is especially true for cannabis strains such as Gorilla Glue, which have a high THC content. Cannabis treatment usually starts with a small amount to gently approximate a medically appropriate dose and to avoid side effects (9).

Gorilla Glue

Side effects of Gorilla Glue

Under medical supervision and in the prescribed dosage, the use of medicinal cannabis rarely leads to unwanted side effects. Relatively mild side effects include dry eyes and impaired coordination. It is therefore strongly advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery while under the influence of Gorilla Glue. (9) If the prescribed dosage is not followed, consumption of large amounts of THC can promote anxiety and paranoia.

Where can I get Gorilla Glue? | MYCANNABIS.cz

Patients need a doctor's prescription to receive Gorilla Glue. This is issued by the treating physicians after reviewing the clinical picture and if appropriate. If other treatment methods prove insufficient to alleviate the condition, health insurance may cover the cost of cannabis treatment. Otherwise, patients can have a private prescription issued and cover the cost (€5-15 per gram) themselves. (10)
